Workout-minded skincare products, a dash of "unicorn" for your life (and bath), curl your hair without killing your arms and Dior's latest launches for spring.
This personal-care line is your new gym buddy
Whether you’re into FlyWheel, CrossFit, Pilates, HIIT or Alexa’s 7-Minute Workout app, there are a few post-workout beauty musts. Washing your face is one, washing your body is another and refreshing your hair goes without saying. Sometimes you might have the time to shower, shampoo and do your whole routine from start to finish—but alas, sometimes you don’t. Either way, a new line called Yuni Beauty has you covered.
Featuring skincare products such as a calming serum and a moisturizer, a pre-workout hair treatment that’s activated by your body heat to repair damage, and travel sets that include body washes, body mist, body lotion, hand cream and more, look no further than Yuni Beauty when it’s time to restock your gym bag. You’ll also find post-workout essentials such as a roll-on Muscle Recovery Gel along with a waterless body-cleansing foam and generously-sized, individually-wrapped Shower Sheets when even a quick rinse isn’t an option.
Yuni Beauty was created with yoga in mind, but it’s perfect for anyone who takes their fitness—and their personal care—seriously. I’ve been slacking in terms of working out, but these products might be the motivation I need to get back into it!
Because your bath should be as enchanting as you are...
We all need to treat ourselves from time to time, and in my world a bath is a luxury as opposed to a necessity. Silence and being alone are luxuries in my world as well, and I try to make the most of all of the above when given the opportunity.
That’s why I just ordered five of these Unicorn Horn Bubble Bars from Lush (since I plan on giving them to my friends who deserve a little reminder of how great they are, too). Beyond being so enjoyable to look at, this effervescent bath enhancer creates swirls of pastel water and lots of shimmery bubbles while essential oils soften your skin and the lavender, ylang ylang and neroli scent makes you feel like you’re in a fairy tale. Just remember to lock the bathroom door though, because you won’t want to be disturbed by reality for at least 20 minutes (or ever again for that matter).
Curl your hair without killing your arms
I haven’t spent more than five minutes styling my hair in years, but I still remember the muscle fatigue. That was before beachy waves were the thing (stick straight strands a la Gwyneth or Jennifer Aniston was the hair goal) so I can’t attest to the upper body workout associated with a curling iron—but I can share this new styling tool that looks a heck of a lot easier to use than the one you most likely have in your bathroom right now.
The CurlBar from Hot Tools literally takes a different angle—90 degrees to be exact—and I’m shocked it’s taken this long for someone to redesign the traditional iron. Making the heating element perpendicular to the handle makes the process a lot more comfortable (especially when you’re doing your own hair)—and you can set a vibrating timer for up to 30 seconds so you can create the perfect wave each and every time.
The CurlBar is available in 1-inch and 1 ¼-inch barrel sizes, and each comes with a heat-resistant glove. Of course you can control the temperature up to 450 degrees, of course it shuts itself off automatically, and of course you can expect the look you long for without straining your arms, shoulders and wrists.
P.S. If you’re the type who likes to “meet” a tool in person when deciding whether to purchase it or not, the CurlBar will be available at Ulta stores in February!
Thanks to Dior, spring is going to be lovely for your lips
I love this time of year, when Spring beauty and fashion are in the air. The countless blogs and websites I visit daily are slowly but surely moving away from the sweaters, boots and bold lips I’m so sick of seeing already (and haven’t really been able to wear down here in Florida all “winter”) in favor of “sneak peeks” at Spring trends to watch. My email inbox is moving in that direction as well, and I’m particularly excited about these two new launches from Dior…
If you haven’t tried Dior’s Lip Glow yet, I’d get on that ASAP. This color-enhancing balm is available in pink, coral and lilac, but a brand-new berry shade is joining the family for spring. Decidedly deeper than its more subtle siblings, this new color is a great way to transition from winter to spring.
If you’re a bit more trend-driven, no doubt you’re intrigued by the concept of ombre lips—or even wearing different shades on your upper and lower lips. I honestly wouldn’t even know where to start here, and selecting the shades would be roadblock number one. Dior’s limited-edition Rouge Gradient for spring solves that problem by serving up a “lip shadow” duo with a punchy peach on one side and a pop of plum on the other. Applied with sponge-like foam tips, these lightweight powders deliver a long-lasting matte finish and are designed to blend together seamlessly, whether you decide to go light or bold. I’m dying to get my hands on this to see what it’s all about for myself, so stay tuned for when I do!
