Living Proof takes texturizing spray to the next level, you *can* afford Balmain, La Roche-Posay's mattifying mist is a must, it's never been easier to clean your brushes and overnight hair-repair.
3 reasons why you should try this texturizing spray
What did we do before texturizing products? Personally, I had straight, limp hair that really didn’t do much of anything. As with many of us, my entre into this whole new hair-styling world was Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray (which remains one of my all-time favorite products) and it truly changed everything. Now I experiment with just about any dry shampoo or texture spray that comes my way, and the latest to catch my attention is Living Proof’s Instant Texture Mist.
As with all of Living Proof’s high-tech hair products, this one has a few differences from others you may have tried or are currently using—and here’s why you should seriously consider adding it to your repertoire…
1.    You can use it on damp or dry hair, which makes air-drying without winding up with a big frizz ball on your head or strands that fall flat.
2.    It doesn’t leave your hair looking dull or feeling stiff.
3.    You can easily revive the body and texture it delivers upon your first application for 48 hours simply by flipping your head over and tousling your hair with your fingers.
It’s obviously ideal for all hair types, too. Since it’s silicone-free it won’t weigh down thin hair, or make oily hair greasy or heavy. It also contains hydrating ingredients so it won’t dry out your hair either. And for the record, it’s safe for color-treated and chemically-processed hair as well.
So if you just want to make it a little easier to get that sexy, messy texture (on purpose), make room for this spray in your hair-styling regimen.
You CAN afford Balmain after all!
I literally dream about having one of Balmain’s strong-shouldered embellished blazers hanging in my closet, but let’s just say I’m not holding my breath (despite working like an animal every day). I may be able to find a fancy piece or two on The Real Real, and fortunately I am able to splurge on the occasional bag or pair of shoes, but makeup and perfume are relatively budget-friendly ways to get in on the designer action.
Tom Ford’s $60 lipsticks are usually my limit (the $36 minis are a better way to go), but I’m obsessed with the new L’Oreal Paris x Balmain Paris collection that’s available exclusively at Barneys—and at $14 a pop, I think you will be, too.
This capsule collection includes 12 matte shades that span the spectrum from nude, peach and red to vivid gem tones such as cobalt blue and sparkling green–and both the formula and packaging (that mimics malachite, lapis lazuli and onyx) are super-luxe.
We also hear the below lipstick necklace is slated to launch later this Fall, and I’ll be sure to let you know when it does!
Mist your way to refreshed, shine-free skin
Facial mists are a must for me, which is why I have bottles in my bathrooms, on my desk and in my handbag (at all times). These products offer instant relief from Florida’s heat and humidity while giving my complexion’s dewiness a reboot, but what if I had oily skin and mid-day shine was a concern of mine? At first I felt sad that this skincare essential couldn’t be enjoyed by everyone, but then I came across La Roche-Posay’s Serozinc Mattifying Facial Toner Spray for Oily Skin suddenly all was good in the world again.
So, yes, this mist is technically designed to be used after cleansing and before moisturizing, to minimize oil and leave skin with a soft matte finish, but we all need to break the rules from time to time, right? Outside of your morning and evening skincare regimens, give yourself a spritz when your skin feels a bit greasy—and don’t worry about your makeup because the mist is super-fine so it doesn’t make your skin sopping wet. If your face is still a bit damp after a minute or two, you can blot away excess by placing a tissue on your face and gently pressing it to absorb any lingering mist. And just like that, your skin is refreshed and shine-free and your makeup should still be where you put it.
So there’s officially a facial mist for every type of skin, and once you start using one, I bet you’ll never stop!
Now you REALLY have no excuse for not washing your makeup brushes
A few weeks ago, an ad for this mindblowing StylPro makeup brush cleansing device popped up on my Instagram feed and I pretty much haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Am I alone here? I mean, a perfectly clean and DRY brush in 30 seconds? No more making sure the water runs clean as I rinse and knowing I’m tool-less for a day until they are dry (after placing them in a specially designed rack so the glue that holds the head on the handle doesn’t get all jacked up.)
With this little motorized device, you fill the with water and brush cleanser (they recommend their brand but of course you can use any gentle face or brush cleanser you have on hand), select the collar that best fits your brush, stick it into the water and watch it spin all the accumulated makeup and oil away. After 10 seconds, you lift the brush out of the water and it works like a salad spinner to remove excess moisture. And just like that, your brush is clean and dry.
Could it get an easier than this? I haven’t ordered one just yet, but it’s on my list for when I need a little online retail therapy, and I’ll be sure to update this post once I try it for myself!
Deep-condition your strands while you sleep
There are never enough hours in day, and things like personal maintenance are usually at the end of our to-do lists. Sure, we can take advantage of our sleep time to hydrate our skin or tackle dry, rough feet with the help of a heavy-duty cream and socks, but caring for our hair overnight isn’t as easy, and can actually get kind of messy (unless you don’t mind washing your pillowcase the next morning.
But, alas, I came across a solution that can do more that help you deep-condition while you sleep. Vernon Francois’ Sleep~In Silk Cap is a must for anyone who wants to wake up without bedhead in the morning. In addition to preserving your style, it also helps minimize the friction that leads to frizz and breakage—and you can wear it after applying the Overnight~Repair Treatment Oils. This set includes four miniature spray bottles filled with a blend of nourishing jojoba, sweet almond and argan oils, plus antioxidant-rich vitamin E. Lightweight yet effective for revitalizing and repairing damaged hair, you don’t even need to wash it out come morning (unless you use too much or you have especially greasy hair. And if you just aren’t in the mood to muck up your bedding, slip on the Sleep~In Silk Cap and have sweet dreams!
