A fragrance that still feels fresh after 15 years, Klorane's latest for detoxing your locks, a foaming cleanser that actually feels good and Goop's new supplements.
This scent is a welcome blast from the past
I have an uncanny ability to remember just about every perfume I’ve ever worn going back to elementary school—and I can even place each scent on the timeline that is my life. Back in 2003, I was living the high life as a magazine beauty editor in New York City, and although I could have called in any fragrance I wanted (and had it messengered to my office within an hour—kind of like the OG Amazon), Clean perfume (as in “The Original”) was in heavy rotation.
I still gravitate toward fresh-out-of-the-shower scents with almost-indiscernible notes, and more than 15 years later, I’m wearing Clean again. The best part is, it’s now available as an eau de parfum so you get even more staying power—and all the more olfactory satisfaction. Next time you’re feeling nostalgic, skip the old photo albums and buy this instead. (Oh, and now Clean is actually “clean,” meaning there are no potentially questionable ingredients.)
Detox your locks
In case you haven’t heard, scalp care is the new hair care—essentially because it’s really important to create the optimal environment for healthy hair growth. You may think you’re already doing this, but all the styling products you use, stretching the time between washes with dry shampoo and pollution in the air all around us isn’t exactly helping the situation. This is where mint comes in, as this potent, antioxidant-rich herb can do a lot more than freshen your breath—and it’s been scientifically proven to detoxify and protect the scalp and hair from pollution.
That’s why it’s the star ingredient in Klorane’s new Aquatic Mint collection, which is designed to remove environmental build-up, refresh the scalp and restore healthy, shiny, bouncy hair. Safe for colored hair, the Detox Shampoo provides a cool, refreshing sensation (and hair that looks and feels cleaner than ever), while the Protective Conditioner features a needle-nose tip for targeted scalp application that creates a protective shield against follicle-clogging dirt and residue. But I’m really into the Purifying Mist for touch-ups between washing. It neutralizes odor on contact without the residue associated with dry shampoo and tames frizz to keep your style looking smooth and sleek. Perfect after a workout or eating at a restaurant that leaves your hair stinky (hello, hibatchi!), it revives your hair without adding any weight—and the instant cooling will be much appreciated come summer (trust me).
Finally, a foaming cleanser that comforts your skin
If you love the suds you get from a foaming cleanser, but need a hydrating formula to avoid skin that feels tight and uncomfortable afterwards, today’s your lucky day… With the launch of Revive’s new Foaming Cleanser Enriched Hydrating Wash, you get the best of both worlds in one effective face wash.
Serving up a rich foam to remove excess oil, dirt, makeup and other debris plus moisturizing hyaluronic acid and vitamin E beads that dissolve as you wash, antioxidant green tea and a combination of nourishing oils, butters and waxes that maintain and enhance your skin’s hydration levels—you’ve never tried a foaming cleanser quite like this.
In fact, 100% of users say their skin felt hydrated, clean and fresh after one week of use so the odds are pretty good that you’ll agree.
How Goop-y are you?
If I had to rate my Goop-iness on a scale of one to 10, I’d give myself a solid 7.5. I’d happily take just about every piece of clothing (and accessory) GP is shilling on the site, and I find many of the wellness products to be intriguing. (I will pass on the jade eggs, however.) So when I got an email from Goop announcing the debut of the new chews over the weekend, I promptly clicked through.
Joining the ever-growing line of supplements are three varieties of “candies” gear toward helping you sleep (Knock Me Out), boosting immunity (Perfect Attendance) and mental focus (Nerd Alert)—and I feel like I could use all of them. Knock Me Out’s blend of melatonin, tryptophan and vitamin B6 sounds a lot more appealing (and healthier) than the sleeping pills in my medicine cabinet, and I’m thinking the elderberry-infused Perfect Attendance couldn’t hurt after surviving the flu. And since there are never enough hours in a day, Nerd Alert’s caffeine, theanine and nootropics (whatever those may be) might just be what I need to make my work deadlines and have enough time left over to squeeze in an extra Pilates class.
Check them out for yourself, and let me know what you think!
