Balms that help balance your chakras and my product/device recipe for clear skin.
A different path to calm and balance
Needless to say, we all woke up to a shock this morning—and we all have our thoughts about the President testing positive for COVID. Regardless of our political leanings, we can all agree that it seems like every day comes along with some sort of curveball that either makes us angry, sad, worried or scared these days. We all deal with this rollercoaster ride differently, whether with wine, medication, meditation, therapy, exercise or any other type of distraction (no judgement—you do you!). Although I’ve used all of the above, a new option came across my desk yesterday that piqued my interest, and man, I could use some extra help today!
Even if you don’t know all that much about chakras, you’ve probably heard of them. As a refresher, this Hindu concept is based on various zones of the body being “home” to energies that influence different psychological and physiological factors. When all of the chakras are open, energy flows efficiently through the body and promotes overall wellness. If any are closed, you’re going to feel off-kilter in some way.
Los Angeles-based healer and breathwork teacher Jay Bradley has been helping clients find balance within themselves for over 30 years—and he created ChakraBalms to help everyone tap into these spiritual centers. Finding the best one for your specific concerns is easy, all you have to do is check out this handy-dandy chart…
From there, you can get the ones you need (or the full set if you want to go all in). Each one is infused with a customized essential oil blend, and they can be used in several different ways, from enhancing meditation, breathwork or yoga practice to standing in for massage oil.
I’m a big believer in the power of scent, and there’s no doubt the past seven months have taken a toll on my body’s energy balance—I mean how could they have not? I just wish I was able bring in a masseuse to try these balms out on me (because I’m also in dire need of some serious muscle-kneading).
Everything Oribe is 20% off!!!
I pride myself on being a savvy shopper, and I usually try to find the best price when purchasing pretty much anything. Beauty products are no exception, but you’ve probably realized that skincare, makeup and haircare rarely go on sale, unless a retailer offers a promotion or discount code. In all my years of beauty buying, I have never come across an Oribe sale—UNTIL NOW!
Yup, everything on Oribe.com is (except holiday sets) is 20% off through October 8th, so there’s never been a better time to stock up on your favorites. I just bought a few bottles of Dry Texturizing Spray, Cote d’Azur Hair Refresher (because one can never get enough of Oribe’s signature scent) and Gel Serum Radiance, Magic and Hold (the absolute best gel ever for my perennially slicked-back hair). Oh, AND you can choose two deluxe-size samples with your purchase!
All you have to do is enter the code ORIBEOBSESSED at checkout—and make some extra room under your sink. Happy shopping!
Could this be the secret weapon for fighting breakouts?
Yup, I’m still struggling with mask-induced acne, and I honestly can’t imagine what my face would look like if I actually left the house more than I do (which isn’t a lot). My current arsenal of breakout-fighting products includes OH.SO’s silver-infused About Face mist (which I keep in my bag so I can use it before putting on my mask and when I take it off in the car), Zyderma HS Clarifying Cream, Kinship’s Pimple Potion spot treatment and a Neutrogena salicylic acid cleanser in the shower.
But apparently this isn’t enough, so I’ve been on the hunt for some extra help—and I think I found it in the form of Skin Gym’s High-Frequency Wand. An at-home version of the bacteria-busting zapper you’ve probably experienced at some point during a professional facial, it comes with three attachments so you can treat larger areas, get into smaller spots like the sides of the nose and zero in on specific pimples.
It seems simple enough… You just crank it up until you start to feel a tingly sensation, place an unfolded sheer of gauze over the part of your face you’re going after, and move the wand in circular motions for one to three minutes.
I’m thisclose to ordering one, but I’m asking around to see if anyone has tried it (or a similar tool for home use). At $95 (minus $10 when you sign up for emails) it’s not a major investment, but I’m certainly hoping it pays off!
