I live in South Florida, so flip flops, sandals and slides are fair game year-round (and perfectly appropriate for purchase in January). I’ve been eyeing these J.W. Anderson lovelies for quite some time because they’re like jewelry for my feet (as well as functional shoes), and I see myself wearing them with everything. As luck would have it, I found them 50% off while perusing Matches’ winter sale and two days later they were all mine.
But alas, I have very narrow feet. Although the length was perfect for my semi-gargantuan size 39s, the actual band was so loose that they flew off my feet with every step. (The toe-curling reflex as an attempt to grip the sole wasn’t all that pretty either.) I really didn’t want to return them, and I really didn’t want to deal with taking them to the shoemaker to have some sort of padding or elastic put in—and that’s when I had an idea…
Perhaps the same heel pads that prevent slipping in loafers and other closed-toe shoes could help take up some of the extra space, and I figured the shape would make them undetectable beneath the thick straps. I scoured Amazon for the thickest ones I could find (that would be delivered the next day) and ultimately settled on these.
And guess what… They worked! I ultimately had to use two per slide to achieve a snug fit (and I may need to add a third to the left side), and I’ve been happily strutting around in my new foot bling all day. If I may say so myself, this might be some of my best work yet.
