Based on today’s launches, barrier-repair skincare is still going strong for 2025.

When I sat down at my computer earlier and checked my emails after being out for a few hours, I found myself wondering… Is today National Skin Barrier Day? After double-checking (since I didn’t receive one PR email about it), indeed it is not.

Yet these three products bowing on the same day would say otherwise, and here’s what came across my desk today. After this blast of cold weather and snow, all of our skin barriers could use a helping hand.

If your skin is in need of extra TLC, this multitasking moisturizer is for you. Featuring ceramides to literally rebuild the skin barrier and soothing colloidal oatmeal (which also boosts the skin’s defenses to reduce sensitivity over time), it provides long-lasting algae-derived hydration, improves the look of redness and (according to the brand) leaves skin feeling silky-smooth. FYI, it’s also been accepted by the National Eczema Association (because I know that matters to a lot of you).

I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing the founders of Mother Science for Cosmetic Executive Women, and in addition to being crazy smart and talented, they make awesome skincare. This moisturizer is the first in the collection, which harnesses the power of a unique molecule called malassezin that has been clinically proven to be effective for improving dark spots and uneven skin tone. Enhanced with a cornucopia of other ingredients we all want (i.e. growth factors, peptides and hyaluronic acid), this is the last step in the Mother Science routine we needed.

And since we wouldn’t want to leave our eyes out of the barrier-replenishing fun, this brand-new offering boosts hydration, tackles puffiness and smoothes fine lines. I’ll say this really appeals to me because I love a richer eye cream for night. (For day, I’m using InnBeauty Project Bright and Tight Eye Cream because I love its light tint and radiance. It also has a super-light texture that works well with concealer.)
