You asked: Coffee-replacement edition
We all need a little help getting going in the morning, and I have a few suggestions to help "perk" you up.
Don’t mess with my morning coffee. Specifically the carafe of iced coffee that is always in my fridge, with a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and two packets of stevia.
However, I do understand that java doesn’t work for everyone, whether because of stomach issues or simply not liking how it makes you feel. (I personally love stimulants, and will get them any way I can.) So when I received this question from my friend, I was more than happy to serve up a few suggestions to get her (and you) up-and-running in the morning.
The ketone supplement I wrote about last week. I’m really obsessed, but I have forgotten to take my shot for the past two days. To fix this, I put the measuring cup in the Lululemon fanny pack I wear when I walk.
VERB Energizing Drink Mix in Piña Colada delivers 65mg of caffeine derived from green tea and 5g of collagen in only 40 calories (and with no added sugar). It tastes amazing, and never leaves me feeling jittery. I also have a sneaking suspicion that it would be great mixed with vodka for a homemade Red Bull. The bars are awesome, too.
I only drink hot coffee if it’s seriously too cold for iced—which happens like once a year here in South Florida. But when I need an afternoon pick-me-up, I love Four Sigmatic’s Instant Mushroom Coffee with Lion’s Mane. You get that extra bit of energy you need with only half the caffeine of a cup of coffee—and don’t worry, you wouldn’t even know there were mushrooms in here if you didn’t read the package. There’s also a version for immune defense, and a brand-new adaptogen-infused stress-reducing mix I’m dying to try.
What are your favorite non-coffee ways to get your caffeine fix?
